A damaged Nokia 6280

To access the front cover we will need access to the plastic cover from behind.

Using the tip of your finger or a plastic shim (eg guitar plectrum),
unclip the cover by gently pulling away from the screen and upward.

A closer view.

Continue around the edges of the casing taking care not to bend the guide rails.

The front cover should now easily lift off.

Remove the fascia and put it in a safe place.

The next step will be to remove the front keypad circuit board.

Using your fingernail or plastic shim, lift the keypad PCB upward.

Removal should not be too tough, the PCB is held on with some double sided sticky tape.

Make sure the ribbon cable underneath the PCB is disconnected. When reassembling the phone you may need to place a piece of folded paper under the ribbon to give some leverage.

Remove and put the PCB somewhere safe.

Un-clip the LCD ribbon by lifting it upwards.

Make sure the ribbon is completely free.

Lift off the protective casing around the screen. There are some small clips to either side of the phone, you may have to undo these using a small flat-blade screwdriver.

Lift out the LCD.

Replace the screen with your shiny new one and re-assemble the phone by following these instructions in reverse.
